Book Week

What an amazing week we had celebrating Book Week at Mitcham Primary School. Children were busy in the library reading the CBCA shortlisted books, completing challenges to enter the competition to win a pack of books, capturing dreams in the BFGs dream jars and visiting the Great Book Swap. A special thank you to everyone who brought along books to donate and $2 to spend at the Great Book Swap – we raised $646 for the Indigenous Literacy Foundation.

Mitcham’s Big Read tradition continued on Wednesday when all children visited another class, read the teacher’s favourite book with them and completed an activity. There were so many activities happening around the school. Some created the Eiffel Tower from marshmallows and spaghetti, some made clay and sequin fish masterpieces, others made beautifully feathered and colourful birds.

Book Week culminated in the parade on Friday morning and it was awesome to see so many children join in the spirit of Book Week and dress as their favourite book character or dress to this year’s theme ‘Dreaming With Eyes Open’. Thankfully the weather was beautiful and we could welcome parents to enjoy the parade with us.
